IK has great news for TASCAM Tape Collection users and those that want to give it a try. We're partnering with some incredible mixing and mastering engineers to create their own preset packs for the T-RackS TASCAM Tape Collection, which will be FREE for all IK users.
This first offering comes from Mixing/Mastering Engineer for Stones Throw Records, Jake Viator, who shares his love of TASCAM tape machines with custom-made presets for the TASCAM Tape Collection to give your music that legendary "Stones Throw" sound.
These free presets are based on Jake's experience shaping the sound of the legendary record label's artists and mastering the art of lo-fi production and mixing. Jake's music clients include Knxwledge, Anderson .Paak, Tyler, The Creator, Peanut Butter Wolf, Moses Sumney, Nite Jewel, John Carroll Kirby, Julia Holter and Dam-Funk.
The Porta One really nails some of the things I love about the Portastudio. Love the dark lushness it can give without sounding muddy and has that "direct/upfront" sound on guitars. Of course, it nicely crunches drumkits and the master bus as well.
This preset pack from Jake is a great way to learn how a veteran studio engineer uses tape machines to shape and color sound.
How to get your TASCAM Tape Collection presets
- Download your presets from the IK Product Manager
- Find your downloads
- Extract your downloads and run the included installer to complete the process
Windows: Your download will open in File Explorer automatically.
Mac: Your download will be found in Finder in your Documents, under the TASCAM folder.*
*If you have set a custom download path for IK Product Manager, this can be found in the Settings menu in IK Product Manager in the upper right-hand corner.
