IK Multimedia today releases TONEX 2 Player version 2.1, the official release following its public beta period, together with TONEX Board firmware 1.1.0.

TONEX 2.1 completes the evolution introduced with the TONEX 2.0 beta, with a redesigned TONEX 2 Player experience that makes finding, creating, organizing, and playing your sounds more intuitive. It also introduces TONEX Rig, an optional upgrade that brings the complete TONEX Board rig-building experience to TONEX software users. 

Firmware 1.1.0 also expands TONEX Board with USB Audio, USB MIDI, and a broad range of performance and quality-of-life enhancements.

TONEX Rig is available as a paid upgrade for new and existing TONEX software users, including TONEX CS, and free for registered TONEX Board owners. Players can build, play, and record complete Rigs in software; create, share, discover, and download them through ToneNET; and transfer the exact same sound to TONEX Board for recording, rehearsal, and the stage.

Powered by the TONEX Board Engine, TONEX Rig features a flexible 12-block signal chain, dual paths, Split and Mix routing, stereo operation, and up to four Tone Models in a single preset. At launch, it includes 76 studio-quality effects from AmpliTube alongside custom processors, providing everything needed for complete guitar and bass rig creation. Additional effects are planned as free updates.

TONEX 2 Player version 2.1 makes software the center of the complete TONEX workflow. TONEX Rig brings the creative power of TONEX Board directly to Mac and PC, enabling players to create a complete guitar or bass rig in software for recording and rehearsal.

Up to four Tone Models can be placed across two flexible signal paths, allowing everything from straightforward amp-and-effects setups to layered dual-amp, stereo, wet/dry, and parallel rigs. Stomp captures can be placed before amp Tone Models, different amps and cabinets can be combined, and every element can be saved together as a complete TONEX Board Rig.

The included effects collection provides 76 studio-quality effects at launch across drives and fuzz, modulation, dynamics, pitch, EQ, filters, delays, reverbs, and utility tools. More effects are planned to begin arriving as early as late October, with further releases to follow. TONEX Rig owners will receive these and future effects at no additional cost.

Complete TONEX Board Rigs can be uploaded, downloaded, and shared through ToneNET, making it simple to move from sound design to collaboration. Players can create a rig in TONEX 2 Player, transfer it to TONEX Board, and take the same sound from the studio to rehearsal and the stage.

More Power and Control for TONEX Board
Available now as a free update, TONEX Board Firmware 1.1.0 expands connectivity while making the Board experience faster, smoother, and more flexible.

The update adds USB audio with 4 inputs and 2 outputs. Inputs include two effected audio channels and two DI audio channels, while the assignable stereo output can be routed on-device to the physical outputs. USB MIDI support expands integration with USB MIDI controllers, computer-based rigs, and recording setups.

Firmware 1.1.0 also delivers a range of workflow and performance improvements:

• More responsive control – Enhanced touchscreen responsiveness
• Optimized performance – Reduced CPU load for CPU-intensive models, with improved audio bypass behavior during Scene changes
• Expanded Scene control – Input, Output, Split, and Mix parameters are now assignable to scenes 
• Global Preset Spillover Bypass – New settings preference controls spillover behavior between compatible presets 
• Faster workflow – Double-tap bypass for gear in the signal chain and Sync On as the default for time-based effects
