Acclaimed British guitarist and singer/songwriter Aziz Ibrahim, a long time IK fan who first came to fame with influential bands such as Simply Red, Asia and the Stone Roses was recently invited to give a special live performance on BBC NorthWest's 'Inside Out North West' programme.
Sponsored by Arts Council England, Aziz has been participating in the UCLAN Global Sound Movement world music project in conjunction with the University of Central Lancashire. The purpose of the project is to preserve and sample rare exotic musical and percussion instruments from across the world before they die out. These include instruments from Uganda, China, Thailand and many other countries.
Aziz has been given access to the sampled sound collection and has incorporated them into his own performances by triggering them using special MIDI apps on his iPad. In a custom 4-channel speaker setup, created by Aziz, he has used all 4 line outputs from his AXE I/O to feed 4 separate monitor speakers. Allowing the listener to be enveloped in sound from all four directions. Of course, Aziz used AmpliTube for iPad for his guitar tone and mounted his iPad with his iKlip Xpand to be able to use it during the performances, which has become an essential component of his live rig.
Aziz told us:
"All of my projects, especially those with Arts Council England, are pretty demanding and I'm thankful that IK Multimedia make forward thinking musical products that address my needs and those of music makers of the future. Nice one IK! Nice one - Mancunian for 'well done' :-)"
