Hot-rod your desktop

Now build your virtual guitar rig, "one piece at a time…"

Imagine this… you turn on your computer before breakfast and buy a Fender Twin for $20 and the Seymour Duncan Shape Shifter pedal for $10. Immediately it's in your signal chain. You record the "missing riff" and email it to the producer. Bam! Just like that you've added to your high-end gear collection, only spent "couch money" on it, and made a royalty — all while still in your pajamas. Wake up… you're not dreaming.

The AmpliTube Custom Shop allows you to do just that – build your virtual gear collection one piece at a time, as you need it. It's a revolutionary concept for software that was inspired in part by Johnny Cash's hit "One Piece at a Time," and the real world of gear shopping. Now, it's available to you, and it's FREE.

And AmpliTube Custom Shop isn't just a shop, it also works as a standalone app for Mac and PC. With it, you can create your own custom guitar and bass rigs just like in the full version of AmpliTube 4. Think of it as an easy way to step into the vast and powerful world of AmpliTube processing and recording.

The Gear you want, when you want it — open 24 hours/7 days a week. With AmpliTube Custom Shop you'll have access to every piece of gear from all AmpliTube collections, including the gear of AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix™ Anniversary Collection, AmpliTube Slash, AmpliTube 4 Deluxe, AmpliTube MESA/Boogie®, AmpliTube Orange®, Fender® Collection, AmpliTube Metal and Ampeg® SVX; plus you'll find additional pieces of gear from the world's top manufacturers — MESA/Boogie®, Fender®, Ampeg®, Orange®, Soldano®, Carvin®, Engl®, Wampler Pedals®, T-Rex®, Seymour Duncan®, Morley®, Z-Vex®, Dr. Z Amplification®, Fulltone®, Groove Tubes® and more… We're constantly adding new models to the collections.

Try before you buy...

One of the cool features of the Custom Shop is the ability for you to "try before you buy" individual pieces of gear. You can demo fully working gear for a period of 72 hours (every 6 weeks, per gear model) in the privacy and comfort of your own playing space. Try that with your local music store and you're likely to get a visit from local law enforcement.

Best of all,
the Custom Shop is FREE

That's right... you can get started for nothing. The AmpliTube Custom Shop desktop app is free, and contains 24 pieces of gear to start. When you download and register/authorize the software, you'll get a fully functioning "standalone" app with a built-in 2-track recorder, plus you get the plug-in version for your favorite DAW. No matter what your computing platform (Mac/Win), you're covered.

How it works - give yourself Credit (packs)

So... how does this work?

The AmpliTube Custom Shop is incredibly easy to use. Here's how:

at_custom_shop_home

Step 1: Download, install and authorize the Custom Shop application

AmpliTube Custom Shop works both as a plug-in for your favorite sequencer/DAW and as a standalone application. Both are included when you install the package. To download the software, you must provide a valid email address. This address is used to create a "user account" for you in our system. Your user account is where you find product serial numbers, updates, copies of software you purchase, and also where you manage your authorizations. You may install and authorize AmpliTube Custom Shop on up to 3 computers (each serial number is given 3 authorization codes). Don't worry, the process may sound complicated, but we'll help you through it every step of the way. Once you authorize your software, you're "ready to rock," so to speak. For more detailed instruction on how AmpliTube works check here.

Step 2: Hook up your guitar and choose your input/output devices

Okay, now that the software is installed, you need to get your instrument signal into your computer. You do this with what's called an "audio interface." If you're using AmpliTube Custom Shop as a plug-in for your DAW, you're probably already familiar with interfaces. We happen to make some very cool ones as well that are "guitar friendly", designed from the ground up with the guitar/bass player in mind.

Step 3: Shop - give yourself some Credit

Here's where it gets interesting. If you click on the "Custom Shop" button in the upper right corner of the screen, you're magically transported to one of the coolest music stores on the planet... the AmpliTube Custom Shop online store.

Here you can browse through literally hundreds of pieces of gear, sorted by type of hardware, manufacturer, etc. When you find what you need/want, purchase is a breeze.

Gear is purchased through a "credits" system that's similar to the way gift cards work. You purchase "Gear Credits" in packages from the store. The more Credits you purchase, the less each one costs (see chart below). Once you have Credits in your account, simply click the "buy" button next to the individual gear model or collection you want to purchase.
Now you can purchase gear models and collections directly with a credit card in your currency ($ or €).

Go ahead... give it a try

Just like in your favorite music store, you can try out gear before you buy it.

To demo a piece of gear, simply click the "Try" button instead of the "Buy" button.

Once you do this, the piece of gear is unlocked in your copy of AmpliTube and incorporated into your signal chain for a period of 72 hours, and you can use it however you see fit.

After that, it goes back into locked status and will remain there until you purchase it.

If you don't purchase it, you can "re-demo" the gear after a six-week period.

How we did it

Digital mojo: the art of IK's science

Since 1997 with the release of the T-RackS analog modeled mastering suite, IK has been one of the pioneers in the digital tone generation and analog gear modeling field — unraveling the secret DNA and true behavior of analog components, and recreating them for the next generation of musicians, engineers and producers. With unique technologies like DSM™ (Dynamic Saturation Modeling), VRM™ (Volumetric Response Modeling) IK models have set the industry standard evidenced by our co-branding recognition from the most influential partners in the industry such as Fender®, Ampeg®, Orange®, Soldano® and many more.

IK is proud of its "Made In Italy" passionate craftsmanship heritage, and treats each of the models as a unique project — a process that we feel has now been perfected. All the originals are painstakingly researched and collected, paying extreme attention to critical sonic details like finding the best sounding model series or same-era matching speakers.

The original amplifier or effect is then accurately measured, and a virtual circuit representation of it is coded in software, with each component's value and the circuit details carefully matched. Then, a comparison of the electrical signals between the original and the model ensures that the model's behavior matches the original circuit behavior in the gear. After this phase we start a complex audio-engineering comparison with the original amplifier or effect compared to the modeled version. This is followed by a series of tweaks and fine-tuning to the circuit and the sonic characteristics of the model. The result is a sound indistinguishable from the original when fed with various guitar signals and dynamics.

The creation of a single model of amp or effect takes the same time that it would take to build a hardware version of it. All these technologies and development efforts have helped millions of users get the best sounds out of their guitars and basses on countless records and productions – including legendary bands like AC/DC, Rolling Stones, Coldplay, Guns'N'Roses, Queen, Level42 and more. And we are passionately proud of it.
